Bridging the SNAP Gap Report

Despite New York state government efforts aimed at increasing SNAP/EBT redemption at local food access points -such as farmers markets, farm stands, and CSAS- as well as investment in programs like FreshConnect, there are still numerous barriers many smaller community-based food projects face when it comes to accepting SNAP/EBT as a method of payment.

This report illuminates the experiences, struggles, and recommendations of regional community leaders and small scale farmers in their ongoing and diverse efforts to increase SNAP/EBT redemption and local food access within direct farm to consumer models.

This report was prepared by QJM Multiprise along with co-authors Qiana Mickie, Maggie Israel, Hannah Tackett, and Charlotte Voelkel.
